I do love a good allegory.

Reminds me of a song about Love and Hate by the Avett Brothers. Can’t think of the title at the moment. Emphasis on the “she’s” brought out a lot of Love’s angst for me as the reader. I can imagine this between real people, if in a musing way rather than allegorical.
