A Different Place
Love turns to Lust and, with her heart full, declares, “You complete me!” Lust smiles at her knowingly, “With you I am also complete, but without you I can survive.”
Hurt, Love retorts, “Without me you are nothing. Like a small flame you will fizzle out.”
“Better to burn bright like phosphorus than to smolder for all eternity,” states Lust, coolly.
“My flames are strong, all embracing,” chokes Love, fighting back the tears.
Lust whispers in Love’s ear, “Your flames are suffocating.”
Confused, Love creeps away, wondering what went wrong. Healing tears flow, with every drop they extinguish Lust’s heat.
Lust watches her go, sad that she could never be Love, and jealous of her enduring strength and beauty.
Looking over her shoulder, Love catches sight of Lust’s final hungry gaze. Her heart fills. She knows this is not the end. One day they will meet again, in a different place.
