I wanna know why we always jump to axe murderers above poison murderers, knife murderers and gun murderers. Very few murderers are axe murderers these day, but the human race seems to have an obsession with them. On a more relevant note, this was great, well written. This character is quite cynical, though, assuming that this stranger must be faulted in some way.
Ah so that’s why I keep getting all these fake numbers- to keep the memory pure before I can ruin everything :P
I noticed you mentioned cop in the same line as murders and rapists. While I find that interesting enough I was curious- is it illegal to hitch a ride? And if so what are the consequences?
Cheers to your first Ficly of the month/challenge!
Cops will probably stop and tell you to move along if they catch you thumbing for a ride. Though, I highly doubt they would set up a sting operation, trick someone into an unmarked police car, and cite them for hitchhiking… in ‘merica anyway. I think she just doesn’t like cops. That if by chance she found out he was a cop it would ruin her wonderful memory. I could be wrong. It could be both of those scenarios.
Anyway, it’s well worthy of feature. Sort of sad. She doesn’t trust anything good to last so she preserves what’s been good so far and walks away. Sucks to think that even if everything goes perfectly you can still be rejected. Though, as always Pan, well told.
