Mumble

Barry knew his mumbling was going to get him killed some day. The voice activated controls in the scout pod simply weren’t sensitive enough to understand him when he wasn’t completely clear.

“All I’m saying is why can’t you deal with that flaw in the controls,” Barry complained.

“It’s not a flaw,” the engineer explained to him. “We did it that way on purpose. We don’t want the computer misinterpreting what it hears. You’re supposed to be precise to there’s minimal interpretation going on.”

“Context, my man. Context. It should be able to figure out what I mean based both on the sounds and what’s going on around me.”

“If we had reliable behaviors for the pod based on the situation we wouldn’t need human pilots. We don’t, that’s why we put you in there, and why you need to speak clearly.”

“Look, just fix it, OK?” Barry didn’t wait for an answer but instead marched off. He needed a snack.
