retelling mythology in poem form for a friend's latin homework

whisper through the wall, my love
in your sweet, old lovely drawl.
defy thy wretched father, love
and break down this wretched wall.

meet me, meet me, by the tree
by ninus’ temple-tomb
the lovely, lovely morus tree
and its endless shadow’s loom

i found your veil, my darling love
covered in your darling blood
the beast that feasted on your flesh
too, tore my heart from out my chest

come, pyramus’ damnèd sword,
and stop my rasping breath.
i’ll take my hopeless life, abhorred,
and join my love in death.

but as the ticking clock still runs,
the tree all stained with blood,
young thisbe to the tree returns,
to find her perished love.

she cries out to the gods, “behold!
my love has met his end,”
she chooses death, a fate so bold,
the gods try to amend.

so to this day, upon the tree
where mulberries do bloom,
if you look closely, you will see
the blood of lovers doomed
