This tale left me wondering who the masked guy was. There’s a setup with the “perfect replica of Paul’s face” and him knowing “those vacant, burgundy eyes”… I started debating with myself if the scene existed in his head and he was mutilating himself.
The dark turn around is discomforting, but I wasn’t clear on the intent of the narrative.
This is also a lesson of: don’t make decisions based on rock, paper, scissors. Ever.
