From the Library of Failure (Branch 2, Part 5)

After dinner, Jenny went upstairs to do homework. Where all of her other teachers had followed the same procedure- handing out a syllabus and boring everyone with the same rules, Mrs. Graham had jumped straight into teaching. When the AP History teacher had assigned reading too, no one had been surprised.

She was about to open the door to her room when she paused. She never closed her door. It always made her feel weirdly disconnected and a tad claustrophobic. She was about to call down and ask her Mom if she had shut the door for some reason, when a crashing noise thundered from inside her room.

“What was that?” her Mom yelled.

Jenny ignored her, slamming the door open and rushing into her room. She hoped to catch the intruder and then scream for help- but no one was there. Her window was wide open but there was no sign of anyone at all.

“I’m fine!” Jenny called back. When she looked down, she found proof that someone had been there.

Her Lucky Cat lay at her feet, a crack zig-zagging down its back.
