Dangerous Boundaries: Chilling Scenery

Together they left Lukas’ room and moved into a freezing hallway. Sirach rubbed his arms before digging out the key ring and unlocking the door. Once open, the door revealed the reason for the intense cold. Lukas’ old room was covered in a thin sheet of snow. Furniture was in shambles. The bed frame had been broken in half and the dresser was so much splintered wood. Snow fell inside the room, curling in from both a shattered window and part of the roof that had collapsed.

Sirach squinted. “I’ll get a lamp, M’lord.”

“No need.” Lukas waved him back as his eyes took on a silvery luminescence.
After a moment, he could see details of the room as if it were day. That was one of his gifts from the Change and a minor one at that- but useful.

Lukas walked inside. Snow crunched under his boots. He pulled on his gloves. “I see why you aren’t renting this room.” he said humorlessly.

Kneeling, he dusted snow off the bed and examined the damage.

Glossy red ice streaked off the bed and made frozen ponds on the floor.
