Constant Tugging
Ramon was at the end of his wits. His whole life had been turned upside down and he couldn’t make it right again. He wore three layers of clothes because he was tired of waking cold and blanket-less. He was skinnier than he used to be- something he had once prayed for.
He was a physicist but he also knew that some things, once done, can never be undone. The universe is strange and wonderful but sometimes terrible and unpredictable. What he was sure of now was that some aspects of the universe were not light switches that can simply be turned off and on.
The book he was trying to read gently tugged itself out of his grasp and flew up to the floor, far out of reach.
He would never be normal again.
There was only one thing left for him.
He opened a window. Spring air drifted over him. He marveled at the the feeling of warmth as he ran a hand through a wedge of sunlight.
A blue void yawned below him.
Ramon took a hesitant step forward and then a firmer one. On the next step, he fell screaming into the sky.
