More Important Things To Do

“Can you get off me?” I ask after I can collect my thoughts into some form of sanity.

The man quickly got up with his suspicious and sour expression never leaving his face. I notice he has the strange ring in his hand. I look over and see a younger man dressed all in black and nods at me.

“Who are you?” I finally ask since they seem to be in no hurry of leaving.

“I think the better question is who are you?” The suspicious man snapped and I almost missed it when his expression changed from skepticism to pain. Almost.

I quickly scan the length of him and my eyes lock onto a very dark spot on his side that went down to his knee. I gasp involuntarily and his gaze follows mine.

“What happened?!” I demand as I inch closer, the nurse in me quickly taking over.

“Nothing. Stop evading my question.” He growls and I see the man behind him flinch.

“My mother is a medic and she’s been teaching me since I could hold a stethoscope. Get inside now so I can take a look at that wound.” I say and wait as he decides.
