Wanda wants to dismiss his statement as absurd but some part of her knows he could very well being telling the truth. A memory of a giant needle and she bites her lip.

“What does this have to do with you?” Wanda hesitantly asks.

“Those experiments were put on you because the people who did it wanted to know if you could see the Ephemerals. An elite class of agents who had been administered certain drugs & also given technology to render them invisible from every sense, not just sight.”

“You’re one of those… Ephemeral people?” Wanda guesses, trying the strange word out on her tongue.

James nods, “We knew tests were being given to young children to see if their genetic composition could be altered enough to penetrate the Ephemeral tech. By the time we found that you were one of the victims, the men had already finished & left. So, we had simply let your mother take care of you without causing extra worries for her.”

“So you just let me struggle with the trauma alone and scarred?” Wanda narrows her eyes
