First thing I thought of was the movie Avatar. The second thing I thought of was Pocahontes (if that is how you spell her name). Then I thought of the Native American who canoed off Horseshoe Falls to help her people overcome a sickness.

Something about the song begs for water, doesn’t it? Interesting inspirations . . . I thought fantasy first and then sci-fi. So I had to find a way to meld those. >< Great job on your story though. The last line is perfect, and for me sad, though you did not specify if she lived.

I like the idea of her not being human and being sold to an officer. I especially like that she escapes! I have a feeling she survives.. or maybe that is my optimism.

I keep looking at this story and I have to admit that I don’t like the MC’s name AT ALL…..
