The Ancients 2
To understand the Ancients, you must understand what it is they do. There are many forces in this world, some we know and some that we are blind too and, like us, some are good and some are evil. The Ancients are embedded in a great war, a war that has raged since before we found civilization. They fight against the Underlings, a society of creatures who have sought to free themselves from the confines of their subterranean world. For them, their struggle is for freedom, for us their freedom means death. You may find comfort in the thought that they have yet to win, but your comfort would be born from ignorance.
Countless battles have been fought, both side have suffered moments of great defeat and both have known the empowerment that accompanies victory. Our land is scarred with their success, our history entangled in their struggle, all a testament to our oblivious nature. In Pompeii, the ancients succumbed to the overwhelming numbers of their foes and suffered a defeat that both our people felt.
