The leader arches an eyebrow at Shelley before calling over her shoulder, “Birdie, lend her a knife.”
Shelley watches as Snap slips on a bulging satchel and rushes to an open window. She climbs on the window sill and scrambles up, out of view. Birdie comes over and hands Shelley a shiny knife with a plastic handle.
“That’s all I can spare. Get your own tomorrow.” Birdie explains and picks up some medical cases.
“Roark! I need an update.” The leader calls up to Roark who is muttering into a phone.
Roark covers the mouthpiece. "They’re cops. Four squad cars.
The leader curses & walks to a back door that Shelley hadn’t noticed. Shelley sees a bloody bandage on the leader’s leg and takes note of her slight limp. The leader opens the door and peeks her head out.
“They’re too close to run. Best bet is to hide. I don’t want to add four counts of murder to my rap just yet.” The leader calls out.
Suddenly, they’re all scrambling forbthe window Snap had gone through. Shelley follows with her adrenaline pumping.
