The Fairy Tale

She was in love with him. She loved him, adored him. He liked her, found her pleasant company and a good laugh. But he didn’t love her. And no matter what people say, life is not a fairy tale, there are no happily ever afters. The hot guy next door does not secretly pine for you, the school’s hottest stud will not tattoo your name on his arm. And he will not fall in love with her, love her and adore her.

Sure, he looked like a Prince Charming. Surely his blond locks had her deceived. And yes, she may have felt like a princess, but no matter how charming he was, he was always more charming to someone else. Flirtatious smiles and random hugs are his thing. Late night chats and harmless dates.

In the end, when it’s already too late, she’ll realize that he isn’t what she needs. But the knowledge won’t help her, because she’s already in too deep. Too tangled up in her own fairy tale.

While fairy tales don’t even exist. And happily ever afters don’t ever happen.
