New Tortuga: The Captains' Council

“I’ll see you guys later.” Hannah muttered and ran up the street to her house where her mother was waiting impatiently.

Hannah always thought her mother was a little out-of-date with her outfit. Her mother wore a black eye-patch on her left eye, a red bandana on her head, a pair of gold hoop earrings, brown leather boots, and loose brown pants. About the only thing she had changed in the last few years was from a white peseant blouse to an extremely-form fitting black waistcoat without a shirt under it.

“Yes, ma?” Hannah sighed as she came up to her.

“I just got a word from your teacher.”

Hannah tensed for some bad news.

“She recommended you to be examined by The Captains’ Council.”

Hannah’s eyes widened, “What?”

Her mother’s dead-pan face broke into a giant smile, “She apparently thinks you have potential. Can you imagine the look on Mrs. Bayweather when she finds out!? My daughter being examined before her son! And wait until your father gets back from his trip to Raventops! He’ll be ecstatic!”
