I envy the characters loss of a fear. My own fear of water is a combination of sea-sickness and the inability to see the bottom of most water. Anything could be hiding down there- sometimes disguised as a rock, sand or a pretty shell.

It did take me a long time snorkeling before I just got the breathing down packed. It helped that there were bunches of people around me. :)

Myfear is just drowning and the complete vastness of water. There’s just so much of it. A whole other universe under the waves without a single wall or door or window. It’s intimidating on a number of levels.
