Friend zone? Why was that such a bad thing? Friends were awesome! Dakota slammed the laptop shut in disgust. Immediately, she cringed and pet it.

“Sorry, I’m not mad at you, Lappy.”

Her face reflected back at her in the glossy black surface of her laptop. It was a good face, if somewhat plain, that fit her perfectly- usually. Currently her reflection was wearing a scowl. Some girls could be beautiful and angry but she wasn’t one of them. Mockingly, she stuck her tongue out and made a face. “Bleeeeeh!”

The absurdity made her burst into laughter and that made her feel better. Laughing always lifted her spirits up. As a bonus she knew that smiling pushed her plainness into cuteness.

So many humans down there were lost to the power of friendship. Now they were actively devaluing it. That would never do. Without friendship, the world would fall apart. It looked like she was going to have to take matters into her own hands.

Dakota left a note. Heading to Earth to remind mortals the value of friendship.
