Bewitched

I stare idly at my glowing clock, twirling a strand of hair around my finger. It’s already four and I have accomplished nothing. I cast a rueful glance toward my shark backpack sitting at the edge of my bed as I ignore once more the homework crying out for me to finish it. I’m not in the mood to solve my math problems. I’m not in the mood to solve my own problems. Thinking about said problems makes me start gnawing on the inside of my cheek and draw my knees closer to my chest.

It seems cold in my room. Like someone opened a window and everything happy in the world just got sucked out. Might as well have. With her around, he is just never the same. I miss the old him. Happy. Joking. Loving. Protective… But now he is but a shell. A puppet; used abused and cast away. He deserves so much better. But yet… Yet he stays.

Suddenly there’s a knock on my door. Following that knock the lulling tone of my father. I don’t respond, but he peeks in anyway.

“Bunny?” Oh lord. Not my nickname. “I found something.”
