Very nicely told with all the drama of competition and self actualization. Unique in that you don’t read or see many stories about para-athletes like this, where the wheelchair is secondary to the spirit of competition and pushing one’s self.
The fundamental thing I learnt over the past couple of weeks of fantastic sport is that the wheelchairs, the prosthetics, the involuntary movements, the missing arms, the dwarfism and everything else all take a distant second place to the thrill of competition and the drive to perform at the very peak. Hannah Cockroft stormed that race and it was every bit as thrilling to watch as Usain Bolt, Richard Whitehead and Oscar Pistorious.
