Just one,
I said to myself as
I took hold of the first cup,
sipping nonchalantly as
the music kicked up and chaos
took hold on the dance floor.
Just two,
I laughed as he came back,
both hands filled with plastic cups,
as I laughed and brought the froth
to my lips.
Just three,
I slurred as my legs shook
from beneath me and the music
became fuzzy.
Just four,
I mumbled as we walked
back to the car, the beer
sloshing around in my cup,
most of it landing on the floor.
