metaphor for personal emptiness?

I refuse to believe that a poem can have no meaning.

the poem doesn’t have a meaning
It doesn’t mean anything
It means nothing

which is the subject matter. Nothingness. Emptiness. As a literature student I often wonder whether we give too much meaning to literature where it never had much.

If it means nothing, then it has a meaning. Aha! lol – I read way too much into everything. I think, in a way, studying English has made me enjoy reading and writing a whole lot less. It’s an interesting discussion though.

it’s actually an attempt at a poem based heavily on wordplay, but I guess the puns aren’t really obvious.
