When The Rain Came

We splashed about in a fit
of nonsense,
our shoes soaking up the puddles
we jumped in, merrily.
Drenched, we ran about campus,
laughing maniacally
at each other for jumping in
the unknown depths and running
around without umbrellas.
Later,
we huddled under the blankets for warmth
teeth chattering, hands shaking, lips trembling.
It had been a good day.
