Summer Memories

As I stumbled home last night,
drunkenly I might add,
I stopped and stared at the sky.
The clouds had dispersed and
the night sky
spread out before me,
waiting for me to take in
it’s surprising beauty.
I chuckled sadly to myself as
my eyes landed on Orion’s Belt.

“It’s a Winter Constellation,”
he had argued, but I protested
all the time.
“It’s out here somewhere!” I replied,
pecking him on the check.

And even now, when the timing is right,
I still feel you laying next to me
in bed at night.
