Interesting progression, indeed. One minor point, though, it’s not the follicles that come to rest on her/his shoulders, it’s the hair. The hair is growing out of the follicles. I’m left wondering if these peaceful humans are all going to get killed too, or if the narrator only kills those who threaten.
