Doe does like cats. And little puppies. And tapirs. :D But yeah, I found this to be hilarious. Sounds like a prank my brother would play on me.

Offbeat and funny. Great conversational writing— your character’s dialogue sounds authentic. I almost did a search for milk bears until I read the end, ha. The imagery in the second sentence is superb. Flecking— what a perfect word.

Great job creating the dialogue. It flowed really well, and I especially loved Ivy’s mini-monologue. I thought it definitely captured a little girl’s scattered thought process! :D

Cute little exchange here, and very easy to picture the scene even with the minimal descriptions. When I read the title I thought it was going to be a direction, or an answer to a question as to what to do next. Obviously, go milk bears, my dear. I assume it could be done; they’re mammals, right?

Did I spot a child throwing in a gender stereotype? They do it with surprising frequency. But off the hobby-horse for the moment…

The dialogue flowed naturally and entertainingly: you’ve captured the energy of the young girl exquisitely.

I like it, except why does a “milk bear” have to be a cow? It could just be a female bear.

Milk bearers! ^. like “ring bear” instead of the ring bearer at weddings.

“Oh, you can milk just about anything with nipples.”

I enjoyed this piece. It felt like sort of a war at home type piece, the battle for tranquility against the short pests.

This was well written, and as I say you had me feeling like it was homy, up until the word “scholar”, which had me questioning that, thinking it might be a library in some fantastical community. Either way, it was awesome.

Ivy sounds like a great person to have around (“…the determined thing…” Great!), unless you’re trying to focus on a single element of a particular topic.

I like the character names and much of the dialogue, too. I think if there’s anything I found fault with it would be the descriptors in between the dialogue. They kind of add too much, I feel. Like they take away from the punch of the line by saying, “See? There’s a punch!” (e.g., “with a sudden spark of genius” and “smirking deviously” sure add a lot of hype to what could probably stand on their own weight.) Some adverbs do the same thing (like, “he thought ruefully.” We already got the rueful tone). I hope you follow my meaning—it’s just my general opinion on writing dialogue.

Fun little piece: lots of cuteness and humour. Brilliant idea as well. ‘Milk bears’ le sigh From the title, I thought the story was going to be about the sweets. You know, white gummy bears? No? Just me then.

Ivy seems to be a great little character – the way she chatters on. Very believable scenario overall, and something I can imagine happening between siblings.

I like cats!!! A girl I once knew loved cows to the point where she often refused hamburger. She would have loved them more I think, had she known to call them milk bears.
