I see in your bio that you would like comments and would like feedback. So here we go. Most of my help is geared toward specifics. If this is not helpful or unwanted I can always delete it.
What kind of continuous sounds do cars make? Use that instead. Feeling sick could be spiced up into ‘feel throwing up’ or gagging down (recently eaten food). Do ants rush to get home? I get what you mean but something seems a little off. Standing still as a statue is a little cliche, now standing still pretending to be a statue is just different enough. “I wait… And wait” should be “I wait . . . and wait.” Lastly the last sentence is clunky, see what you can edit to make it clean and more impactful.
Just to add to Robert’s comment. Third paragraph ‘torment’ should be ‘torments’ as memory isn’t plural. Also you’ve got a stray ‘e’ on stomach in the first para. I disagree on the ants point though as the phrase ‘rushing to get home’ refers to the people as people not as ants.
I like that there’s no ending, so we’re left with the mystery of whether he showed up or not. The idea of being still while the world is stampeding over you is very poignant.
