On to Important Things...

Alice clicked her tounge against the roof of her mouth several times, ridding herself of the aftertaste of the gas. She turned to Slater, the nearest nextMeet player on her team, to catch up on last night’s happenings in the virtual playground. She needed good intel to be able to use her time between classes wisely.

Slater, a rover in-game, told Alice, “Lost my best vehicle last night. Two betas stopped me before I could get to Tesla. Took everything I had. Threatened to eject me and leave me with no crawler to get back to base, too, if I didn’t tell them everything I knew.”

“You tell ’em anything?” Slater looked mortified, and Alice knew better than to lay into him about getting caught. He punished himself enough without her help.

“I did, but it was all shiz. They let me go,” explained Slater. “I crawled to Tesla, couldn’t buy the engines we needed, and now I have no way back.”

“I’ll send a sweeper for you first thing. Get you back in,” Alice said. “Can you work supply for now?”

“Yes, and thanks.”
