Ever heard of a Halo-based webcomic called Reclaimer? (http://reclaimercomic.com) Yeah, that’s mine. I’ve actually been more checked-out of the Halo community this past year (since Bungie passed the helm to 343i) than anytime since the first game came out 10 years ago. I’m eager to get my hands on a copy of Halo 4 and see how well 343i handles the franchise.
Yeah, that whole Rampancy thing is going to suck for everyone’s favorite AI.
Please do! Understand, however, that the story’s not complete. It’s been in a state of indefinite suspension since I lost the ability to easily capture screenshots. I’m hoping to change that once I get Halo 4.
Reclaimer is really excellent, and you should definitely check it out!
There’s something about the Halo universe. No matter how many other ideas I have, no matter how much time and effort I put into other creative settings, I just can’t quite put down the Halo setting.
One of these days I’ll even let those ideas coalesce into something I’m happy to let others read :)
Oh man, I felt kind of let-down by Reach right up until that mission. I actually made it quite far before I realised that it was literally doomed to failure. That and Emile’s death were the best parts.
Jim- While I haven’t had a chance to play Halo 4 yet, word is that it’s really good. I really like that 343 heard some of our cries and started integrating stuff from the peripheral fiction. The Forward Unto Dawn vids were a good nod. I’m not sure how much I like the Forerunner’s being bad guys (if they are. It seems implied by the commercials).
Also if there are any Halo related challenges or what not, I want in. Otherwise I will cry mself to sleep in my cryo chamber . . .
The graphics look a bit odd though – particularly the visors, you know what I mean? If there’s movement to include the novels and ancillary canon I’m all for that though.
I don’t feel that Ficly is an appropriate format to write this stuff – the 1024 character thing just doesn’t fit well with the kind of writing that Halo elicits from me.
Oh, geez, if there’s actually a serious interest in a place to write Halo fan fiction, I can certainly build that website. I know halo.bungie.org technically has a place for that, as well, but I don’t know that I see a problem setting up another specifically dedicated to it.
Excellent. Anyone who’s interested in this little project please PM me. I want to set up a more efficient way of conversing about this than a Ficly comment thread. :)
