I envy the ease
with which blame is shifted
with logic so clear
it makes no sense at all

I envy the smooth
simpler to swallow justifications
that leave accountability
to rot in futility

But most of all
I envy the animals
who were smart enough
not to claim responsibility
for the entire planet

(though at this point, they might do a better job)
