Interesting vignettes. I completely identified with the first and a little with the third. I felt like I was missing something, some critical piece of information that would bring this all together for me. So I looked up Ingrid Walcott but I didn’t find anything of use. Am I missing anything?
I liked how you kept the people nameless and I thought that each moment felt very truthful.
She has cancer (or is terminally ill) and he had to transfer from his job? She must work with him to be in his office.. unless it is a home office, then he is her husband. That part is not clear.
Thanks for the comments. I’m just now trying to get back in the swing of writing, so Im a little shaky. Not my strongest work, but I was going for random encounters where two people are both thinking about the same thing, but neither want to say what it is. So the men in each segment aren’t necessarily the same, but Ingrid stays the same person. The first is romantic, the second is news of being terminally ill, the third is being fired, and the last is perfect harmony with someone. That was how I planned it at least. :)
Oh good. I was wondering if the hes and shes were different people but your comment explains things nicely. However, I didn’t feel like I needed to know the explicit story behind each segment. I thought the changes in the emotion behind each moment, excitement, dread, different dread, joy, were enough to drive the piece. I also liked that the moments didn’t have to have a linear progression. It made the piece less predictable.
I don’t know if this is what you were trying to do but fragments of a person’s whole life in such few characters is a great concept. I’d love to see more of that, not just from you!
I like the idea that it’s not just one romantic partner, or it doesn’t say for sure anyway, even though you clarified in your comment. Because it doesn’t matter if it’s all the same person or if they’re all different partners… all that matters is that in each moment she has hopes and dreams involving that person highlighted in the experience.
Don’t really know where I’m going with this lol. Good job!
I enjoyed it! I think I’ll try a sequel but I don’t have time now. The thing will be to try and emulate your style and atmosphere. :D Thank you for sharing!
