Interesting take. Although, I think Mr. BiC’s piece was more of a social critique than a horror story. I could be wrong, but I think the word lifelessness in his story refers to the masking of one’s true personality in order to be considered “cool” in the greek system. It’s a very tough system and those who show emotion are likely to be judged. While it wasn’t my interpretation of the story, your sequel certainly brings up a physical lifelessness in the death of a sorority sister which could possibly also represent the same issues as my reading of Mr BiC’s since one sorority girl had the mental capacity to kill her “sister” probably over something trivial as well. Go Greek!
I had been thinking of the title “Sorority” as simply meaning “sisterhood,” as in one sister’s relationship with the other, I hadn’t really thought of it as a college sorority at all! But still, I think of this as a Dorothy Parkerish sort of exchange (the original story) and the setting as being in the 1920s. . .which I switched for a modern setting in a house from that era, with the video cam. :D
