To me, your story sounds like peace was finally declared, but the guns, as anthropomorphic war-gods, don’t like it. Also, I dig how you didn’t use the title to hint at the story.

Ooh, very dramatic, and I thought the guns worked well as metaphor for the those individuals keen on conflict, the war hawks as they are sometimes called.
