Speak of Me in Whispers
What do missing Romanov children, supposedly executed in 1918, have to do with Imperial treasures sold on the black market by corrupt Nazi officials in Rostock, Germany in 1943?
When Lena was very young, her mother fled their homeland and the Red Russian Revolution. The woman left Rostock long ago, leaving Lena behind in the care of a kind woman and a rich stepfather who barely acknowledged her existance.
But Lena has grown up, and her stepfather notices her now. And she has bigger problems: Hitler has sent his enforcers to Rostock to find someone to blame for the theft of his looted treasures. Lena must give them a better scapegoat before the Gestapo starts hauling people away, including herself: Remember my name, my daughter, my dear one, but speak of me only in whispers….
