Manipulation; Webster says it’s to treat or operate by hands or mechanically with skill. Wikipedia pegs it as a type of social influence that changes perception of behavior through deceptive, abusive, or underhand techniques. I call it a fetish.

Working through my job and dealing with the same stories from everyone is just not interesting enough for me. Who cares if your father beat you? Who cares if you almost drowned? Who cares if suffer from some mental disorder. I don’t. I just get paid to pretend I do.

One night, sitting at home it hit me. Why do I prescribe my patients with actual pills? Actual pills just convolute your reality unnaturally. No, why don’t I give my rats a huge dosage of nothing? Give them a placebo. Let’s see what they do when they think they are on a medicine routine.
