Letter to My Son
It’s not every day you turn 10.
I hope you had a great day. I hope you enjoyed your time.
We only have so many hours on this Earth. Today was 24 of them. May you have sweet dreams.
May you be inspired by your desires; by mine and your father’s desires too. Surely, we are the example you see.
I think about how we shape you; how we could change the way we shape you. What do we present to you as a gift? Knowledge? Good habits? Responsibility?
10 years ago, you were the cutest baby on the planet. In my mind, you could be anything. As you grew, your personality shaped our concepts of who you could be. The toys you migrated to, the books you read, even how active you are when you play narrowed the field of possibilities. We still don’t know what you will be when you grow up.
That’s okay.
For now, you need to be 10 and all that comes with 10.
