Another Week (Day 16)
“You may go in now, Dr. Haylan.” The secretary said, without looking up from her iDesk.
“Thank you.” He muttered as he headed to the door marked with a gold bar: Dr. Sephiroth.
Dr. Sephiroth was a severe woman with high cheekbones, slightly sunken black eyes, and blue-tinged hair, which marked her as a Person of Importance, that she always kept in a tight bun.
She looked up from her own deluxe-sized iDesk and managed a smile that looked more like a grimace. “Hello, Dr. Haylan. Here to discuss this week’s report?”
He nodded and sat down across from her. With a sweep of her hand, her desk powered off and she gave him a nod to begin.
“Well, first, I’d like to say that, uh, the number of births this week hit in all-time high with 416 births in Ward 8A. But, uh, only one quarter of the babies were able to be marked as Potentials and only 20 babies marked as Excelled.” He quickly swallowed a lump in his throat.
Dr. Sephiroth frowned and put out a hand for the folder of charts he was carrying.
