I think the fact that pride was described as the reason for the offer of help made this piece insightful. Add to that the quiet dignity that Letasha seemed to radiate with her calm refusal of help and her simple response about where she was headed and the result is another description of what pride can be. I really enjoyed the combination.

Doesn’t mean they will welcome her, but it’s a start. If her family is prideful, and they haven’t changed like she has, things will not be easy for her.
