I should say that this isn’t exactly what I pictured for my death, but it was inspired by the original challenge so it seems right to enter it as an entry.

Very interesting. On my first read through I thought it was science-fiction (Starship Troopers- the book not the movie) and the second and subsequent read throughs made me think modern day military instead. Sad, but at least he had one last moment with his family.

It is nice that you have captured the last moment his family saw him. Stoic as this seems, it is heartbreaking as well. Good job.
