Outskirts of Sanity (Day 41)

Murray stood at the edge of a dark city. There was light yet the city was dark. He couldn’t remember how he got there or what he was supposed to do. Trying to concentrate on such details filled his mind with a whirlwind of thousands of cawing crows. In the middle of that murder lay the answers he sought. The crow storm grew louder and more violent until-

Falling to his hands and knees, he emptied his stomach onto the coarse ground. On the third heave, something hard shot out of his mouth. Through burning eyes, he could make out a metal disc laying in the bile. He fumbled a handkerchief out of his pocket and used it to pick up the strange object he had vomited up, bringing it closer for inspection.

Larger than a silver dollar, the disc was emblazoned with pictures. On one side was a mobius strip with the words Terra Infinitus ringing the edge. On the other side was a knight contending with a dragon and in plain English read GOOD NEVER WINS.

He wanted to wake up but Murray knew that he wasn’t dreaming.
