Me too but I’ve come to accept that we writers are a broken lot. That being said I thought your note was coldly polite, which is odd considering the word choice.
I never doubted you. To clarify, I meant that the words themselves were warm but somehow despite that, the note comes off as coldly polite. I admired the dichotomy.
“Nice to have known you " perhaps a better “adieu” as the tense follows the note. “Looking down upon you” ? Otherwise the emotion of standing apart and looking at what is happening works well.
