Consequences (Day 48)
Jerry was taking a bite of sandwich when two fingers jabbed him in the back. Although he wanted nothing more to sock the guy in the face for interrupting his lunch, he carefully finished chewing and began to wrap up the paper around the remainder of his lunch.
The fingers jabbed him again. This time it was accompanied with a hoarse whisper. “Hey, you thick in the head?”
Setting the sandwich down, Jerry pat it twice as if to say he would return soon. As the fingers dug into his back for the third time, he whirled around and grabbed the guy’s wrist.
“Hey!” The guy shouted in surprise. With his free hand the guy slapped at Jerry’s fist to no avail.
Slowly, Jerry raised his hand until the guy was standing on his tip toes. Leaning in until he was face to face with the blond little snot, he said, “How come you ain’t got no manners, boy?”
The guy’s voice went shrill. “Hey, let me go!”
“I’m of a mind to kick your teeth in. My therapist says I can’t do that any more but I’m willing to make an exception for you.”
