A Fresh Start

She spotted him from underneath the protection of the porch. His little pick up truck never looked so inviting as it did tonight.

The rain refused to stop so carefully, but swiftly she jolted into the storm to make it to the truck. She could see him, his face. Oh, that grin. He opened the door from the inside to let her in.

“Ya a little wet?” He winked at her.

“Maybe a bit.” She admitted, wringing out her long, dark hair. “It’s alright. I didn’t spend an hour on my hair today or anything.”

“Good. You wouldn’t spend an hour doing your hair to hang out with me.”

“Hey, don’t forget—this isn’t just a hang out. It’s a date.”

“But that doesn’t mean that I’m not me and you aren’t you.”

“Fair enough. But either way, doesn’t matter anymore. The rain has ruined it.”

“A fresh start?”

“A fresh start.”

A smile was exchanged as they backed out of the driveway.
