Goodbye
it’s too late to say goodbye
All the things I never knew
Never bothered to know
Maybe I was little
But you are never too little
To learn
Or
To care
The flood of information
It didn’t come till after
When it was too late
I never said goodbye
I never even said
The three little words
Before he was gone
Maybe I was young
But you are never too young
To show you care
I never said thank you
Or even had good manners
I don’t know
If he cared
But I never said goodbye
And now I know more
About the poems
His civil war bookcase
The smiley face mug
And the way he liked his toast
But I still can’t say goodbye
