Ficly

So Long

I watched tv today
With the sound off
I muted each gasp of surprise
And silenced every scrap of dialogue
All that was left were gaping mouths
And incomprehensible body language
Every image was one-dimensional
Flattened by silence
I could only stand it for so long

I came home today
Without a soul to guide me
I looked at my tidy room
And pastel sheets but
All I saw were bloody carcasses
And the encroaching darkness
Every image burned into my retinas
Flattened by memory
I could only stand it for so long
