What Happens When I Leave The Window Open In A College Town
I was standing atop my chair when it happened.
Metal scraping against the pavement just
outside my first floor window,
a bang and a crash,
the walls came tumbling down.
The window went everywhere:
in my hair,
in my arms,
in my cheeks,
in my legs.
It lay strewn upon the floor,
reflecting rainbows upon
the walls.
The car’s headlights blinked
on
off
in perfect harmony.
My limbs were useless.
The girl in the front seat was dead.
