The Black Hole in My Bed

Before I go to sleep
I take handfuls of memories
To drown my head in your pillow
And myself in your faded scent
That place you once inhabited
That empty space
Is still covered
With blankets
But the star that warmed me each night
Is gone
And all that remains
Is the blackest of holes
Sucking me in
To a land of nightmarish loss
Only to spit me out
When I scream
Loud enough to wake the dead
