The unknown friend.
Onyx sat silently for a few moments, staring intently at the ice blue eyes looking back at him. This was becoming a ritual for the two, both not making a sound but shadowing each others every move, every subtle nuance. The dance always ended after 10 or so minutes, with neither of the two giving ground, a stale mate until the next time. They seemingly would get bored and concede at the same exact moment, as if they could both feel the end of that days game creeping up. They knew each other very well, yet Onyx didn’t know his name. They never spoke, at least not with sounds, but body language. Thirty minutes have passed today, the game lasting much longer than every before. Normally, Onyx’s would have left by now, attending to matters that needed his expert care. He would have forgotten about this mysterious friend til the next day, but there were no distractions today, and this would be the day he would best his adversary. He jumped at the other suddenly, surely this would throw him off guard.
