How I rose
A 50 foot rock wall, and you’re scared of heights.
10 feet off the ground is easy. You could climb it without a rope.
20 is easy, if you pretend you’ve only done ten twice.
30 is easy. If you know you’re almost done. And if they haven’t given the rope any slack yet.
40 is hard. 40 is the summer you went on college tours with your dad who got in to harvard and your sister who knew about that C+ in math. 40 is checking wikipedia plot summaries because why read a book if it isn’t good? 40 is seeing the top of the wall and knowing if you close your eyes and let go, the ropes will tighten and you can rest and when you get to the bottom you can say, “Well, I could’ve gotten to the top, but I got scared.” And everyone will say, “Good job, you could’ve done it!”
41 is easy. 41 is ten more feet you could climb without a rope.
