That got tense. The descriptions pulled me into it, and I stayed for the story, to figure it out. It doesn’t become clear until the end what’s exactly going on and you carefully suggest what might happen next. This one’s ripe for a sequel! I’m not up for it at this point, but you set it up nicely.
